Micro:bits and the Curriculum
11 May @ 4:15 pm - 5:45 pm
The Micro:bit is a very simple computing device that can be programmed using a tablet or computer.
It has an LED display and some simple input controls that make it a good starting point for teachers & students to begin coding. It can be programmed with block coding for Primary levels, progressing to text-based Python for older students.
This Micro:bit Workshop will focus on:
- Introductory activities using block coding, working through a series of activities to support learning how to use the Micro:bit.
- Make a soil moisture sensor, integrating science understandings and computational thinking to solve a problem about sustainable watering practices.
- Curriculum ideas to integrate Micro:bits in your teaching.
- Resources readily available for teachers to teach with Micro:bits with both block coding and Python.
Participants need no prior experience with Micro:bits. Devices will be available to use at the workshop; bring your own laptop.
This is a free event with a SPECIAL OFFER FOR QSITE Members – includes your FREE Micro:bit V2 device (value $30).
