Rockhampton: Micro:bit Workshop for Teachers

9 March, 2019 @ 8:30 am - 12:30 pm

Venue: Emmaus College, Yamba Road Campus

Workshop Leader: Tim Stephens

This workshop for primary and secondary teachers interested in introducing students to coding will be lead by Mr Tim Stephens and will be held in the Library on the Yaamba Road Campus. It will be free of cost to teachers.

This workshop is sponsored by Google Education and all teachers will be provided with a Microbit to keep.

A pre-workshop survey is to be completed along with a post-workshop survey for Google Education as justification for the funds grant to establish the value of the workshop offered.

The Microbit is a device designed in the UK by the BBC for use in computer education. It has Bluetooth and USB connectivity, has a 25 LED display and two programmable buttons. Teachers will preferably need to bring a laptop but an iPad can also be used. Tim will use the following website for his PD resources     https://sites.google.com/view/microbit-pd/home

This workshop is now fully booked.

What to Bring:

For the best experience bring a laptop that has a usb port. Other devices such as iPads and mobile phones can be used but you need to install the Microbit App and then access the wifi for it to work.
