About the Far North Queensland Chapter

Sparkey under a palm tree About Us: Sparkey "under a palm tree" is the mascot of QSITE- Far North Queensland Chapter Our membership covers a vast area of northern Queensland. Our Chapter strives to conduct a variety of technology workshops and information services to assist in promoting the effective use of Information and Communication Technologies in the classrooms. This Chapter hosts and sponsors events, develops resources and specially caters for teachers from Cairns, south towards our colleagues in the Townsville Chapter area and north to the Cape, Gulf and Torres Strait. We need to use the geography of cyberspace to reach the QSITE members and professionals in our area.

New Energy:
The Far North Queensland Chapter continues to grow in membership and strives to raise the profile of QSITE in Far North Queensland schools, as well as taking a leadership role in celebrating the good pratcice of Far North Queensland teachers and their students.

  • Connect with other QSITErs online

You can connect with other QSITE members through these Web 2.0 sites:

    • QSITEr’s Ning http://qsiters.ning.com/ – for member social networking, sharing of practice, discussions etc. This will grow to replace the social networking that has been available through the QSITE website.

    • Follow @qsite on twitter http://twitter.com/qsite – to stay up to date with QSITE activities, announcements and 140 character conversations

Why not make this an opportunity to learn about some Web 2.0 tools and to connect and share with your fellow QSITErs.

  • Share your ideas for QSITE PD in 2009

    Survey

QSITE in 2009 will continue to facilitate Professional Development (PD) opportunities for its members as it has always done. As well as “face-to-face” PD sessions run in the various chapters, QSITE this year would like to attempt to “walk-the-walk” so to speak and experiment with some virtual delivery. We have some tools we would like to try.

To facilitate the program this year we would like to formally survey members.  We would like to know  what members want in terms of PD for themselves and their schools, but also what they personally might be prepared to offer back to members. I would ask chapter members who may have already indicated to their respective chapter PD coordinators their intention to offer sessions this year to duplicate this intention through the survey. The results will also inform us for the QSITE conference later in the year.

The only required fields are name, email & chapter. All other fields are optional.
