Jason Zagami

QSITE President

Jason Zagami is an award winning ICT educator who has been with QSITE for the 14 years he has been in education. He is a stellar example of an educator accessing QSITE skills and support to drive change in education.

"The push for cross-curricular ICT integration is very important, but maintaining relevance and advanced-level ICT skills for teachers of ICT studies must not be forgotten," Jason said.

"That's the great thing. Through our ICT managers and computer studies members, QSITE connects the people on the frontline of ICT integration. That is why the QSITE Board can represent these specialist educators when policy decisions are made."

Jason's passion for Computer Studies education has led him to become involved in numerous ICT advisory committees, including the QLD School Curriculum Council, Association Independent Schools Queensland (AISQ) ICT Reference Committee, and QSA Technology Curriculum Advisory Committee.

Jason's latest career move takes him to tertiary level teaching and research. As a Griffith University Lecturer he is once again driving change - working with the next generation of educators. His research is breaking new ground in areas such as ICT-powered learning models, policy development and 3D virtual learning environments.

According to Jason, "QSITE offers the education profession many of the same benefits as social networking and open source software".

"In QSITE, education professionals collaborate to shape the profession. You might need to update a computerised reporting system or find another way to teach robotics, or you might want to discuss the future of the ICT curriculum.

"Whatever you need, when you get us together, QSITE members have a much louder professional voice."
