Gayleen Jackson

QSITE board member

Sunshine Coast Chapter Chair

Gayleen is an undeniable asset to the QSITE board. During her six years of membership, Gayleen has travelled the path from classroom teacher and school-based ICT curriculum and support, to Senior Education Officer, ICT & Middle Phase of Learning, for EQ’s Curriculum Branch.

"When I first took the step to give ICT a go with my classes – QSITE was there to support and encourage me," Gayleen said.

Gayleen’s current role is Programs Manager, ICT Learning Innovation Centre at Sippy Downs, north of Brisbane. She is also an active conference contributor, presenting at QSITE Conferences and DETA State Conferences in Maths, English and Technology.

I attended QSITE Conferences and QSITE Professional Development and found I had access to a great network of support."

Gayleen has witnessed first-hand the new dimensions ICT integration gives education for individual students.

"Regardless of their academic ability, ICTs help put children on a level playing field. Many students who are visual can communicate their ideas and messages using the exciting software now available to them, like movie making, cartooning and claymation. And through this technology we can help them develop personal confidence and practical skills with real value in the new media world. QSITE support brought these possibilities alive for me and my students, and so I am always happy to spread the word and support others as part of the QSITE Board."
