ACEC2008: ACT on IcT
29th September - 2nd October 2008

The Australian Computers in Education Conference (ACEC2008) is a biennial event organised by the Computer Education Group of the ACT (CEGACT) on behalf of the ACCE, the ACT ACT Catholic and Independent Teacher Librarians Network (CITL) and the Navigator Schools' consortium (Navcon). This conference provides a forum for educators in schools, universities, TAFE colleges, professional associations and industry to present ideas and exchange information on the integration, development and applications on all topics related to computer education and teacher librarianship.

The assimilation of computers into all levels of education and training, the rapid growth of the internet and web-based publishing and the proliferation of computing devices embedded in appliances, cars, phones and even clothes, all impact on how education is structured and delivered. The future of education may be one of virtual classrooms and libraries, populated by creative individuals who collaborate with like-minded others. Alternatively, it may well look much as it does today, but whatever the next few years bring, it will be the unsung innovators in classrooms and school libraries who will transofrm and expand the conventional boundaries of education.

The conference will focus on:
- Teacher excellence and ICT innovation in schools / libraries
- The impact of policy and decision making
- Realising the potential of emerging ICT leadership
- Celebrating the potential of educational partnerships
- Voices of ICT leadership
- Teacher librarians and ICT specialists leading the way in a digital age
- Literature in a digital age
- Children's literature; and
- Thinking about future scenarious.
