John Oxley

QSITE Past-President

John is the immediate Past-President of QSITE President following 2 years as president (2007-2008), two years as Vice President, five years on the QSITE board and 17 years as an active member.

He is a member of long-standing respect not only for his commitment to QSITE events, but also for establishing and driving IPT in schools and via other education networks – and for a continued dedication to extra-curricular ICT programs for his students.

John is currently employed as Director Information Services and Technology at Moreton Bay College and Moreton Bay Boys’ College. He is also Panel Chair of the QSA District Review Panel for Information Processing and Technology (Brisbane East Region) and an Immerser and Accredited Marker for the QSA Short Response Test.

“As a society for all sectors and all educators, QSITE has an enormous contribution to make to Queensland education,” John said. “And we need to start by telling all teachers, ICT technicians, and all school executives that we are here to help.”

“Back in 1988, my QSITE friends were among the first to take up the challenge to teach IT, and they all knew it was a subject earmarked for continual and rapid change.

“It is the drive of these people who have spurred Queensland education on to the ICT integration debates of today.

“QSITE members (ICT specialists, cross-curricular pioneers and new ICT-integrationists) are always ready to help colleagues meet ICT challenges. It’s what we do.”

John Oxley says QSITE has passionate and enthusiastic educators at its core, a culture of colleague support, and a state-wide network that reaches from Outback Queensland classrooms to the offices of educational policy makers.

“It might just be the time to let everyone know.”
