Pre-Conference workshop on Wed, 28 Sep 2011 09:00 - 16:00 Full Day Workshop
This full day workshop will focus on the cool things you can do with PHP. The skills learnt in this workshop could provide the basis for a minor or major project in your IPT course. A small amount of time will be spent looking at the server software required and how to create a database backend to drive a dynamic PHP website, but a completed database will also be provided so the majority of the time can be spent exploring the possibilities of programming dynamic web based applications in PHP.

Pure programming in PHP

Workshop on Thursday, 29 September 2011 11:50 - 12:45 in room SG01 (Lab)
PHP is often used to create dynamic websites with a database backend, which can form the basis for a good major project in IPT. However, PHP can also serve as a pure programming language and be used to create web based applications and games. This practical workshop will guide participants through the process of teaching and learning the basics of PHP and using it as a programming language in IPT. Assessment ideas will also be discussed and shared.
