Keynote speakers:


1. Stephen Atherton, Apple AustraliaStephen Atherton, Apple
Stephen Atherton is the National Development Executive (Higher Education) for Apple Australia. In this role he engages with the tertiary sector in collaborative research and teaching projects, consulting, and is involved in professional development of tertiary education staff. He taught at a number of schools in Australia where he developed a continuing interest in computers in education. Stephen spent a number of years at the University of Queensland where he managed a wide range of activities associated with the provision of I.T. solutions in teaching and research. He has been an external consultant with Apple Computer Europe and UK and managed the education division of the UK Macintosh User Association based in Oxford. He is a member of a number of computing and education associations in the UK and Australia.

Stephen Atherton’s presentation “Where is IT all heading?” offers a unique view into educational IT’s future.


2. Pat Wagner
Pat Wagner
Pat Wagner is a former high school English, mathematics and media teacher, school administrator, and author and co-author of eight teacher reference texts. After two years working as an educational consultant in New York, he took on the breakthrough role of online consultancy - mentoring New York school administrators and teachers from his home office in Queensland. He now specialises in and is an advocate for the transformative effect of technology, particularly in relation to the organisational and motivational culture of schools and businesses. He has most recently presented in Philadelphia, Hollywood, New York, Singapore and Canberra.

Pat Wagner’s presentation “Open Source, Open Doors, Open Minds” discusses the dramatic transformation of a Bronx school in which doors and minds have been opened to a global learning space.
